Ribbon Pakoda / Thukada .
Ingredients
Besan flour - 1 cup
Rice flour - 1/4 cup
Asafoetida - a pinch
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Salt as required
Chilli powder - 1 tsp or grinded chilli paste with 3 chilli
Water - 1/4 cup approximately
Oil - 1 tsp for dough
Oil for frying
Step by step procedure:
i) Mix all the ingredients for the dough.
Besan flour - 1 cup
Rice flour - 1/4 cup
Asafoetida - a pinch
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Salt as required
Chilli powder - 1 tsp or grinded chilli paste with 3 chilli
Oil - 1 tsp for dough
Water - 1/4 cup approximately
The dough should be stiff
Add the dough to idiyappa maker fixed with the ribbon pakoda plate
Add oil to kadai and heat them. Add red chilli to oil, to find if it is heated.
Once red chilli turns into dark red, the oil is heated and ready for frying.
Press the dough directly into the oil.
Flip them in regular intervals.
You will see the bubbles in the oil. The bubbles will settle down after sometime. The pakoda turns to golden brown color.
Remove the pakoda from oil once the bubbble gets settle down.
Preserve in air tight container.
