Toor Dal Rice/ துவரம்பருப்பு சாதம் by Soup2Sweet

                 Toor Dal Rice    /     துவரம்பருப்பு சாதம்                           
         

                     Ingredients


To grind: 
Red chilli - 6
Grated coconut - 4 tsp
cumin seeds - 1 tsp
small onion - 4 or big onion - 1

To Saute
Ghee - 2 tsp
Coriander Leaves or Curry leaves - few
                                        
                    For gravy 
Oil - 1 tsp
Mustard - 1 tsp
Onion - 1 chopped
Capsicum - 1 chopped
Tamarind - 1 small lemon size (Soaked in water)
Asafoetida powder - 1 pinch

                        For Rice
Turmeric powder -1 tsp
Salt as Required  
Rice - 1 cup
Toor Dal - 1/2 cup

Steps:
To Grind:
      Blend red chilli to a smooth paste

To Grind:
      Grind the below items


  • Grated coconut - 4 tsp
  • cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • small onion - 4 or big onion - 1

Steps: 


  1. Saute Mustard in heated oil.
  2. Once mustard splutters add onion and capsicum and saute well.
  3. Add tamarind soaked water to the sauteed onion and capsicum.
  4. Add blended chilli paste to it.
  5. The mixture should boil well.
  6. Later added blended coconut gravy to it. Let it boil for few minutes.
  7. After adding coconut gravy, the mixture should not boil for long time.
  8. Keep the mixture aside.
  9. Boil the Rice and Toor Dal with turmeric powder and salt.
  10. Rice should be cooked well. 
  11. Do not over cook.
  12. In pressure cooker cook for 4 whistles.

            Ratio:
           Rice - 1 cup
           Toor Dal - 1/2 cup
           Water - 4 cups
13.Add the mixture to the cooked rice and mix well.
  14.Saute coriander leaves or curry leaves in ghee.
15.Add Sauteed coriander leaves to the rice
16.Serve them hot with chips or any vegetable.
