Carrot Puttu / Carrot Poriyal / கேரட் புட்டு

                     கேரட் புட்டு / carrot puttu


                                       Ingredients

Carrot - 6 (grated)
Moong Dal - 3 tsp (Soaked in water for 10 min)
Onion - 1 chopped
Capsicum - 1 chopped
Mustard - 1 tsp
Red chilli - 3 (cut into small pieces)
Salt as required
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Oil - 1 tsp

To Grind 

Coconut grated - 1 tsp
small onion - 3 or onion - 1/2
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp                                                                    

Steps:


  1. Blend grated coconut,onion and cumin seeds   
  2. Keep it aside,           
  3. Steam cook carrot and moong dal with 1 tsp of turmeric powder
  4. Steam cook for 15 minutes.The moong dal should be cooked well.
  5. Keep steam cooked carrot aside
  6. Saute mustard and red chilli in oil separately in a kadai.
  7. Add onion and capsicum after red chilli turns to dark red.
  8. Saute well.Onion should be cooked well 
  9. Add steam cooked carrot and Moong Dal to sauteed onion
  10. Add salt and mix well.
  11. Add blended coconut mixture to carrot and saute for few minutes
  12. Serve as side dish
