Carrot Puttu / Carrot Poriyal / கேரட் புட்டு
கேரட் புட்டு / carrot puttu
Ingredients
Carrot - 6 (grated)Moong Dal - 3 tsp (Soaked in water for 10 min)
Onion - 1 chopped
Capsicum - 1 chopped
Mustard - 1 tsp
Red chilli - 3 (cut into small pieces)
Salt as required
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Oil - 1 tsp
To Grind
Coconut grated - 1 tspsmall onion - 3 or onion - 1/2
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
Steps:
- Blend grated coconut,onion and cumin seeds
- Keep it aside,
- Steam cook carrot and moong dal with 1 tsp of turmeric powder
- Steam cook for 15 minutes.The moong dal should be cooked well.
- Keep steam cooked carrot aside
- Saute mustard and red chilli in oil separately in a kadai.
- Add onion and capsicum after red chilli turns to dark red.
- Saute well.Onion should be cooked well
- Add steam cooked carrot and Moong Dal to sauteed onion
- Add salt and mix well.
- Add blended coconut mixture to carrot and saute for few minutes
- Serve as side dish
