Puli Illa Kuzhambu Recipe (Tirunelveli Special kuzhambu)
Drumstick leaves Sambar/ Puliillakkuzhambu by Soup2Sweet
Ingredients:
Serves 3 persons
Drumstick Leaves - 200g (approximately 1 small cup)
Water - 600 ml
Moong dal - 3 tsp (cooked well)
Toor Dal - 3 tsp (cooked well)
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Salt as required
To grind: Set 2
Red chilli - 8
To Grind: Set 2
onion - 1 (sliced) or small onion - 4
Coconut - 1 cup (grated )
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
To saute:
Mustard - 1 tsp
Oinon - 1 (finely chopped)
Oil - 2 tsp
Steps:
i) Add red chilli to the blender. Blend it to a smooth paste.
ii) Blend onion,coconut and cumin seeds to a coarse paste.
iii)Add mustard to heated oil.
iv) After mustard gets splutter add onion to it and saute well. Keep it aside
v) Cook drumstick leaves in water
vi) After leaves are well cooked, add salt and turmeric powder.
vii) Add chilli paste to the gravy.
viii) It should boil well.
ix) Add cooked Dal to the kuzhambu
viii) Add belnded coconut to the kuzhambu.
Xi) Let it boil for few minutes
x) Add sauteed onion to the kuzhambu.
xi) The gravy should not be so thick and should not be so liquid.
xii)Can be served with rice.
